Description

Skimmed Mourning was a commission and collaborative project between a mezzo soprano, a poet, and a composer to explore the theme of wandering. Musically, this theme is explored through shifts in tonality. In the beginning these shifts are subtle, but as the piece progresses these shifts become more dissonant and aggressive. The piece concludes with a recapitulation of the opening melodic material.
