Description

A Thousand Trees for mixed chamber ensemble directly develops from the flute part in the ensemble. This solo treats the unity of musical material in the same way that a forest is comprised of many individual trees. Each musical statement represents a single tree, which are all separated by a fermata of an undetermined length. It is only through this separation of unique musical ideas that the “forest” can begin to take shape.
